It' about time n response to requests for Macintosh support by its Mac-user customer base, Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Inc. will officially announce the availability of free Mac-compatible versions of M7CLv3 Editor and LS9 Editor for Yamaha M7CL and LS9 digital sound reinforcement consoles at InfoComm 2010 in Las Vegas, booth #C6748. The Network-MIDI Driver feature has been redesigned specifically to allow M7CLv3 and LS9 consoles to talk directly to Mac computers. The Network-MIDI Driver assumes the role of the DME-N Network Driver used on Windows platforms. Like the Windows version, M7CLv3 Editor and LS9 Editor for Mac run under the Studio Manager V2 host, providing the same features and operating environment as the Windows version. “Both the M7CL and LS9 series represent highly evolved live sound mixing systems for a wide range of applications,” states Kevin Kimmel, mixer product manager. “M7CLv3 Editor and LS9 Editor for Mac will take these consoles to the next level for live sound engineers using Mac-based systems as part of their mix environment.” The new M7CLv3 features and Mac-compatible software incorporate significant upgrades to give both existing and new users a thoroughly up-to-date, efficient working environment. For M7CL, advanced features such as Sends on Fader operation via the M7CLv3 Editor will now be available via the Mac platform. The new software will be available free via download in August. |

A small step closer to setting up monitors from an iPad perhaps? |

Did anyone try to connect the Mac, Snow Loepard, with an LS9-32? The Yamaha Network MIDI connection is a bummer, cannot get it running for live operation as monitor console. Any hints or tips about the right network settings? |

What have you done so far? I can't remeber exactly what we did so I'd have to have the MBP with me (some time this week probably) to help you out.

I'm still pushing heavily for sends on faders for LS9's! Would make monitors on a tablet so much god damn easier.

So, theoretically, it seems to me, you could just get to the board from a mac laptop that's running studio manager, then turn on screen sharing to get to the laptop's screen from an iPhone or iPad. There..monitors on the iPad.

Sends on faders on an LS9? Easy to do- I've done it plenty of times. Been a few months since I've worked on one, but if memory serves, you just hit the send button to get there (may have to hit it twice, I can't exactly remember), but it is easy (and necessary to make the board work as a monitor console). I've got a friend that has modified a midi control program on the iPad for use with an LS9. Basically used uses a network connection to send Midi information from the iPad to the console. I don't know which program he used, however, to do this. Worked great, though, and he was able to do exactly what you describe- set up monitors and EQ'd them via an iPad. --Ben |

I mean sends on faders within studio manager. They updated the M7CL studio manager file to have this function but the LS9 has been left out in the dark.

The PM basically said that if he sent me an email I'd check the options in all the related software when I got back to church (depending on when the guy with the linked up MacBook gets back from his sick-leave). If you send me an email (liam [at] shadowplaystudios [dot] co [dot] uk ) it should remind me to do it when I get back |
