I am recording a group of camp counselor singers at a summer camp next week. It is a 20-30 person choral group. We will record in a lodge - a large room with wood covered walls, carpeted floor, high-vaulted wood ceiling. For the group, I will record in NOS or ORTF, and I have these SDC pairs: SM81s, CEMC6s I will have other spot mics on a guitar player and a lead mic for kiddie songs they do with a lead singer. I have 4 inputs on my remote recorder, so I can only put up one pair of SDCs as the other inputs go to the spot mics. All mics will go thru a Sytek 4Aii pre. Last time I recorded them with the SM81s as that was all I had and was happy with the results. This time I am leaning toward the CEMC6s (not sure why, maybe just to experiment). Any thoughts on which I should use? |

i am generally fond of spaced omnis for choral groups, so if you have the omni caps for the peluso's, i would recommend that. otherwise, either pair in ORTF/NOS should do fine.
