Question Upload file failure?

i have a sample clip of a young cellist i have been trying to upload, but i get "file upload failed" each time. i have tried more than one version of the file, and even tried a different file, rebooted, and still cannot upload. the file is an mp3 about 4.7mb.

what might the problem be? thanks.

You're not alone right now: Why can't I upload an MP3?

Yesterday, I tried to post a handy (well, I thought it was handy anyway) Excel sheet that computes, based on microphone sensitivity, the dBu, dBV, and dBm for that microphone (versus SPL). It even computes the corresponding pressure in Pascal to each dB SPL. I say it is 'handy' because often times it is nice to have an answer to a typical question such as:

"OK, I'm recording 'x' tonight with 'y' type microphones...I'm guessing the worst-case SPL will be 'n' dB at the mic locations...so how many dBu is that going to be anyway? If I knew, I'd have a pretty reliable estimate of where to set the input gain without risking overload or underload...Hmmm if only I had such a utility..."

That file was all of 74 kb (yep, that's all) and it would not post - I tried 4x.

Anyway, if anyone out there is interested in this Excel file, feel free to visit this link in a browser:

ftp://client1.immersifi.com:binaural@immersifi.com

Once you get there, just browse to the Utilities folder and right-click on the Excel file to save it. I'll keep the file up there on my FTP site for a while - at least until I can actually post it here.

If you prefer to use an FTP client, then the details are as follows:

Host: immersifi.com
Username: client1.immersifi.com
Password: binaural

Feel free to use the spreadsheet. I also included (in the spreadsheet) a text box that tells you how to use the worksheet.

A spreadsheet that tells you where to set the gain based on your *guess* of what the loudest SPL will be? That sounds like technology gone mad, a little...

Yeah...I'm kind of odd wanting to know things like microphone sensitivity and thus, how many millivolts, dBu, and so on I can expect to see and thus, what ballpark first-stage sensitivity would be best to use.

Crazy...I know.
