Question re SoundDevices 552's preamps

Hi All,
How are the 552's preamps for studio recording of music and vocals?

I need to increase my preamp count for doing the above (and some location stuff in churches) and was looking at something like an 8-preamp audio interface to replace/augment my MOTU Ultralite.

However, as I recently bought the 552, and TA3-to-XLR cables for the direct outs, I could just get a bunch of XLRf-to-1/4inch adapters and have 5 more preamps in to my computer via the MOTU.
Thing is I want to purchase kinda quick and I am not near the 552 til next week to check how it performs on music.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on how the 552 preamps might stack up against some of these units, or similarly priced units, even theoretically...

Hi There.
I have the 442 and it sounds fantastic.
There's so many variables to a "good Recording" that the choice of preamp (from certain threshold on...)is irrelevant. If you already have the SD I'd say go for it. In my experience it rocks.

You can check the specs for the pre's that you want to compare...
