i am looking for a box that will route any one of three (i'll take 4 or even 2 if that's all there is) switch selectable spdif inputs to one spdif output. any recommendations? thanks.

There are a number of video switchers out there (really simple / cheap units) that are designed to switch between various RCA inputs to a single RCA output. You just push a button to switch around. Would that suit your needs?

$20 from Radio Shack. GE 4-Way Audio/Video Selector Switch - RadioShack.com It's not designed specifically for SPDIF, but it has RCA-jack inputs and outputs and can switch up to four inputs. There is no circuitry inside, it's just a hard-wired switch, so it should work fine for SPDIF. |

do these devices (radio shack et al) maintain 75ohm connection- or does that not matter? my intended use is to connect 3 devices that output spdif (and that i never use at the same time) into one spdif input on a digital mixer. |

there are 2 options... using a decent soundcard with DSP mixer... like RME hdsp AES32 or Lynx AES16 with AES/EBU to s/pdif baluns from ETSLan.com PA813 *** or purchasing a rack mount detangler from Z-SYS.

I don't record thorugh it, just monitor, and for that is it fine! I use it as input selctor for Presonus Central Station and it sounds as good a hard wired. It IS hard wired, and for the short signal path I don't think the impedance matters. Lou | |

Thanks lou. i plan to only monitor through it- and only non-crucial monitoring at that. looking to save reaching behind the board to plug in a different cord each time I want a different source.
