Question Telex headsets

Has anyone ever used a Telex headset system before, or know how to patch 24 volts into a patchbay so I can power headsets?

Oh, also how would I patch monitors into a mic input to be patched into the same patch bay??

As you can see I've never used a patchbay before...

Well, to start off you'll need a compatible powersupply or main station. Popular models are made by manufacturers such as Clearcom, Telex, Production Intercom, and a couple others - just be sure to check compatibility. Telex and Clearcom have system design manuals on their websites, which are good starts to intercom systems.

Depending on the grounding scheme of the patchbay, you may or may not be able to patch intercom through your patchbay.

Stay away from using a patch bay for "wet" communication unless it's an XLR bay or you're supper careful..

You don't want to short the comm system's power supply when patching and re-patching.

Since my patch bays and snakes have individual grounds (No ground buss of any kind) I can run "wet" signals through the snake and patch bay system with no issues -- But, I always make sure we never pull or make any patches via the standard TRS patch cord. We have XLR panels wired to the patchbay or TRS to XLR adaptors AND we ONLY connect on the XLR side.

When we need to patch the TRS (TT or long frame) connector we make sure the power from the comm system is turn off first. Once the connection is made, we turn the system back on.

I hope this helped!
