I wonder if those guys ever used that console - those things were mighty fine and kills every digital desk under 30k sonically

Yes, but everything outlives it's useful life at some point. I had a van like that once<g>. Gave it to Goodwill and they made me pay for the tow!!

^^^^^^ Dave, there is no justice.

OK, who says techie types have no sense of humor. It was funny. The guy without the hat and with the glasses had to be the fellow who worked that board. It was his sweetie-pie, for sure.

I wondered about recycling, too. But art must be supported.

Decent desks, maybe someone had a bad day on it. Too bad they wasted all the parts though. faders, Fader caps, op amps, transformers, preamp cards, power supply, etc. DDA did use some good quality components. I liked their gear, once upon a time.

It was kinda funny, but too many things just get thrown out and not reused/recycled.

So overall: Funny - a bit.

Environmentally, economically responsible: not at all.

it shows very aptly that time moves on and the rein of the desk is over ,it no longer serves a purpose , i'm sure there people who felt the same way when the motor car came about and the horse and carriage became obsolete ,good by desk !!! hello DAW !!!

Actually the video made me kinda sad. All those good parts and just trashing the whole thing. What happened to recycling? There were some good meters good faders and even the channel strips could have been sold on Ebay. I don't like to find good equipment that someone has trashed because it does not meet THEIR needs. DDA are good consoles and I am sure they would have had no problems selling it to someone for $100.

Oh well it is no longer. Too bad

Perhaps they could have organised a funeral pire, and have everyone jump on it at the end.........that's when it might have become entertaining ?!

Somebody somewhere would have had a use for the parts I guess. The knobs alone cost.

I have DDA desks here (3) they're good desks - and that techie won't be getting any servicing jobs from here!!!!

So nice to hear one of the greatest works of man accompanying the destruction of another piece of good work from the hand of man...................yep, entertainment 21st Century style ?!

Don't quite get it.

Hi Gussy

I'm not far away from you but hadn't come across your site before (different fields).

It's a bit different - your site I mean, very inventive, worth looking at just to see the originality of its design.

They said PSW that they did a Digidesign trade-in program and had to prove they destroyed the old console. The theater I used to work for dumped their DDA Q five years ago because it cost too much to keep running, and parts were running scarce. They replaced with a Soundcraft MH3 and have been quite happy since.
