Talking Telefunken pres in classical music?

Hi all

Anybody ever tried some Telefunken V672 mic pres as mains for classical recordings? Those are the solid state substitute for the tube V72 once it got retired. I used them in a few studios I collaborate with on vocals, strings, ac guitars and acoustic instruments in general and they sound clean, big and detailed, very satisfying. I wonder if anybody ever got the chance to use them as main pair for classical as I saw a few of those racked in 2ch units and ready to go with +48, phase switch and volume control, for a really fair price.

What do you think?

I had (and sold) a pair of V72s, they worked great with an SM69, so the V672 might work great with an SM2 or AKG424, fixed level was always a problem

Hi rojo

the V672 I'm talking about have been racked and modified in that they have been added pad, phase, +48 and most important a level pot so that they can be controlled up to the 55 db of max gain.
How did you like the sound for acoustic and classical applications (if you had the chance to test them in those context)?
