Question Fitting 5-pin conn. in Rode Blimp handle

Recently purchased an mkh-418 and Rode-Blimp for SFX gathering. I had to have a short stereo 5-pin tail cable made as Rode doesn't make one.
The problem I'm having is that the Neutrik connector is too big for the handle.
The part of the handle that a connector goes into is a pliable rubber, hard to carve or drill out.
Has anyone come across this and figured out a solution?
If all else fails, I can always reach for gorilla glue.
Many thanks for any help given.
John

Neutrik makes different series of xlr connectors, maybe change to another?
