well, that is not exactly true, but so far this year, i have picked up a pair of neumann km140s, a pair of DPA 4061s, a pair of yamaha HS80M's, and (finally) paid for a commercial license for Reaper (after "evaluating" it for only 121 days). i am very happy with all of the items. i am starting on a new CD project for the flute/harp duo, RoseWynde. so, have youse guys bought anything new, and was it what you thought you were buying/wanting/needing or was it a waste of good money? anything that took you a step closer to classical nirvana? my next purchase will be an auditorium.

Just bought a Mytek Stereo 192ADC to fill out an extra digital channel on my interface, reclocked my whole system to it, sounds freaking fantastic. I bought a refurbished unit on ebay from Mytek, there was a problem with it, so they shipped me a brand new one. How is that for customer service. Also bought a Steinberg MR816X, still wating for my rebate. Once I sell my old interface, I figure I could break even. It sounds great, but it is glitchy as hell and the preamps are a little noisy at higher gain setting. If I had to do it again, I probably wouldn't buy it. Next purchase...Josephson C617's. Just getting the courage to spend that much money and figuring out how I am going to pay it off. Luckily business has been good lately. I try to buy gear only when I need it. I am not an impulsive shopper....usually... |

I've only purchased a Sony M10 recorder this year, and that was largely on principle, to mark the end of a long Sony road through MD starting with their very first model. I've yet to use it in anger. Or even change the batteries which seem to be eternal even if I never actually switch the thing off.

| I figured he wouldn't mind the noise, because if he did, instead of the auditorium, he would be buying an anechoic chamber. But you do have a point. p. |

My third pair Schoeps??? Will post some pics when I get them. I have quite the little family now... All I need now is a pair of MK21 and MK41 and I'll be done. Well at least for the short term. |

Just a Fostex FR2LE this year, because I was tired to mount the PC, interface etc. for all my concerts stereo recordings. JMM |

A new PC; does that count? And a copy of the new Samplitude 11. This is a low-profile year. There is a lot of stuff out there I would like to buy, like the Shure ribbon mic. But I just do not need that new ribbon mic. And I would need a pair anyway.

So far I bought an MCU extender, and upgraded from Cubase Studio 5 to Cubase 5. I also just bought some wood to make a new studio desk to house the MCU plus extender. I really need a new truck so gear purchases will be on hold for awhile unless.... |

Last year, after asking guys on this forum about ribbon mics, I put my toe in the water by buying a Fat Head II with the Lundahl transformer. The mic is much better than I expected so I'm toying with the idea of adding two more ribbons, an R84 and maybe something else, if I find a buyer for my pristine KM184s this year. Last year I also augmented Samplitude by picking up the Sonnox EQ. It was a very good purchase.
