wow - this is amazing!! Not only an ordinary shotgun with AES42-out. Really innovative - digital brings us further and has a real benefit in that case... But probably at the cost of two standard-CMITs of course...

I have found only a little technical background information about the algorithm of the superCMIT:
Illusonic-website

...maybe the DSP-delay can cause a problem in practice? Also when timecode is used or the mic is uswd together with other analog microphones?

Not sure if MS oder DMS works correctly with that shotgun if the processed signal is used...

Listen to the SuperCMIT - audiosamples on the Schoeps website - really amazing... but for me there are a lot of questions in the moment.
I'm curious

I've been at Schoeps today and I did a testing with Sound Devices 788t.
The delay is 2 ms and during testing a person (Mr. Wittek himself :-) spoke in the super cmit. Channel 1 Sound exactly like the normal Cmit.
For Channel 2 there are two settings: the first is a moderate preset the second one cuts out the surround in a unbelieveable way but sounds not As naturally as in preset one.
One thing should Be mentioned: there is a little bit more noise comared to the normal Cmit. But you need a very quiet room to hear this.
With the 788t it's a perfect harmony and I think it's only a matter of time when I will buy it. This 2ms delay is no problem. With the 788t the other channels also can be set to 2ms.
The price in germany will be 3000,00€.

As the Super Cmit has AES42 out and the 788T takes AES42 in - you can take the digital output of the mic. directly into the 788T without going analogue at all.

Info for a novice

Hi
Please could you let me know what I need to get the Super CMITS microphone to work with the Sound Device 788T
Is it just getting the XL-88 breakout cable and plugging the mic in
What settings need to change on the 788T?

Will be extremely grateful as the sound guys are telling me this does not work
and Schoeps and Sound devices says it works perfectly

Thank-you

The 788T needs to have up-to-date firmware.

The 788T will take an AES42 microphone like the SuperCMIT straight in without any special external stuff. You just plug it in with a normal XLR cable into the AES digital input - you will probably have to select AES42 in the menu.

It should be easy.

You just need the XL-88 breakout cable. Then turn on AES42 phantom.
Read the manual regarding AES42.
For long cable runs make sure you use a real 110 Ohms digital cable.
