Talking Rate questions for vocal/piano recital

Hey, everybody...

I have been recording and producing for the last several years, with a few full albums and a lot of my own stuff, but have been contacted to do something new: vocal, piano recital recording in a university hall. I'm in Atlanta, GA (USA) and I wondered if anyone can ballpark a reasonable rate. I've got several good small diaphragm and LD condensors (Rode NT5's, Shure KSM32, AT4050, AKG perception 220, several good dynamics, etc), four channels of Black Lion Audio's Auteur preamps, motu ultralite mk3, and my macbook.

What kind of $ can I ask to not look unprofessional and also not blow a possible job? I just don't know what folks usually charge to come do a recital like this.

THANKS!

-Matt

Some kind of hourly rate might be a place to start... this rate might include the editing/production you'll need to do to get it on a CD... showing up, setting up, coaching the person through a few decent takes... two hours, for an efficient military-style operation? Maybe a hunnerd bucks sounds like a nice, round, reasonable figure?

First question you need to answer: are they driving a new car?

Charge as much as you can get away with.

But make sure you know what you are getting into. It sounds like you haven't recorded classical music before, which is very different.

I'm just down in Valdosta if you need anything by the way.
