Talking Internship in NYC

I know this isn't technically the right place to post this but I know what I want to do and this is where my audience is. I am a high school senior living in western CT that is looking for an internship in location recording, live sound or sound for film. I have experience in all three areas although I have more experience in location recording and and live sound. In the past I have worked alone or with minimal guidance and I want to work under a pro and learn the right way to do it. I don't have a problem working for little or no pay, hauling dear and getting coffee as long as I get the opportunity to learn from you. I am young guy who loves live and location audio and wants to learn from a professional.

In addition to my audio skills I also have experience as a photographer and videographer and I am a freelance web designer. My summer begins in early June but before that my schedule is pretty flexible on the weekends and some week nights. You can contact me at david@davidmdesign.com.

I know this may be a little different than the usual self-promoting self-indulgent internship solicitation but I believe that I should present who I really am and forget the marketing speak. But I guess if this doesn't work I will be back with the marketing speak.

I can't offer you a position but I can invite you to a big band recording session that I'm producing. It's on April 1st at Clinton recording studio in Manhattan. If you want to go, send me a PM.

There's a book called NY 411 ( a website too). I think this is a pretty comprehensive listing of all the cats doing everything A/V in New York. Years ago, I hooked up a pretty amazing (paid) internship and also had a couple of great interviews using that book. If you're comfortable making your pitch on the phone, the cold-calling thing can work wonders. I got that gig right off the street. Good Luck.
