Hi folks, quick question: if I purchase a DPA 4061 that terminates in a lemo connector (intended for Senn. SK-50 series transmitter), is there an easy way to convert to XLR using one of these guys (See attachment) after that, could I supply regular +48v, or do I still need a custom transmitter type supply? I'm looking to attach this to my upright bass for gigging. My Realist does not pick up enough bow sound compared to pizz.. perhaps this would augment. Side note, would a 4061 pick up too much stage sound in a loud, amplified venue? thanks

There has been a similar thread to this recently. The DPA 406n series is electret and runs on 9 volts. The DPA XLR connector reduces Phantom 48 volts to 9 volts and has some RF filters in there, too. It is pricey, USD100+. Other folks make XLR converters but I do not know about the RF filters. Another option is to run the OP of the mic through a 9 volt battery box and then into your recorder. DPA is not cheap, but the IMK4061 might be your cheapest route considering what is included. Here is a link to the first retailer who came up in a search: DPA IMK4061,dpa I have not used a 4061 in the app you are doing. If it is close enough to your sound source ambient sound should not be a problem. Unless maybe you are in a metal band. ;o) I am very pleased with what I get from my little 4061's. Many other folks are, too. Good luck.

deso - i dont know if the cable you pictured has the capacity to step the voltage down from 48 to 9v, and if not, you could have some problems. my 4061s have been converted from the original connectors to a stereo mini plug. i bought a naiant PFA (phantom power adapter) that has a stereo mini jack on one end and a pair of XLRs on the other, and include the step down from 48 to 9v. least expensive solution i know of.

Thread Starter | Quote: this looks to be just what I would need. so this one? This is the one they recommend for the SK-50 transmitter. (see first attachment) the opposite end of that is XLR I assume, and then I power it with 48v phantom it this thing converts? please correct me if I am wrong. Note: I don't actually have an SK-50 transmitter. So would this "Ph48 volts/electret converter DPA coaxial" be okay for going from 48v phantom in a preamp, through this, to the 4061? : (see second attachment) Thank you boojum and Jim. Jim, this 4061 terminates in a lemo intended for SK-50 use. Boojum, I'll look into those boxes. And search the location forums for more info. Cheers. | |

Actually I would order my mic with the coaxial connector as you can have adapters to various transmitters like the SK-50 but if your mic has hardwired connector for that then choose accordingly Btw: DPA Microphones :: Products Matti |

Hi guys Sorry to ressurect an old thread but I've got a set of 4060's that are hardwired pin 3 hot lemo and was wondering if anyone has any more info on the DPA lemo to male XLR connector on their website. Is that the one I would need to step down from 48v to 9v? It doesn't actually say on their website other than it's a 'passive' connector. thanks |

The DPA 406n series mics are electrets and designed to run at ~9 volts. More than that may well destroy them. A quick note to DPA would answer the question. Better to ask than experiment. ;o)

I've sent them an email as well. I'm NOT just going to plug it into 48v if it's meant to use 9v, imagine the damage!
