Talking Alesis HD24... discontinued?

Hi!

Does anybody know if the HD24, HD24XR and EC-2 products are still manufactured and sold or are discontinued?

I've got many confusing and contradictory statements from the shops that I've contacted and got no response from Alesis/Numark (at least yet). The shops randomly quote each product as discontinued and unavailable and generally seem they have no idea what the situation is...

Anyone probably with a little bit more insight?

Thanks,
j

(P.S. I've seen the other thread discussing whether the XR version is discontinued, but it didn't feature any definite answer and I was told by some shops that the whole HD24 line was dropped altogether...)

I understand that with the Andromeda synths they do production runs every few years, so in between they can be hard to got hold of (brand new). Maybe the HD24 is the same kind of thing?

From what I understand, the HD24-XR is discontinued.

The HD24 is still a current product.

One theory I was told is that the XR doesn't comply to RoHS and as such cannot be sold in Europe, but still sold in the US.

The "EC-2" is now quoted as "out of stock" on the Alesis site, maybe they are really produced in production runs as bighp suggested.

Did you find any official source stating this? I have found nothing convincing on the net...

Since HD24 product development has virtually stopped since Numark ("Mr. Microphone") bought Alesis (no full-featured remote or OS upgrades), my guess is that they're phasing the product out. There are rumors it will be replaced with something else, but I haven't seen any confirmation of that at all.

Here's a pretty good deal on an almost new HD24XR and peripherals:

Tape Op Message Board :: View topic - FS: Alesis HD24XR + caddies + Firewire port + extras.

Cheers,
