Question Replacement mic clips for KM140s?

oye - i just picked up a used pair of KM140s that do not include any mic clips. so, i am looking for a pair of replacement mic clips that will fit the 22mm diameter bodies of the 140s (same size as km184s). the neumann clips are like $70 each - ouch!

i dont want shockmounts unless they are really compact. i think the AT8405 clips would work - they are for 21mm AT bodies. but anyway, what would you recommend as replacement mic clips for the km140s, and where can i buy them? danke.

Rycote - 041107 INV-7

Where I live, these Rycotes are a little cheaper (but also bigger), compared to the the Neumann SG 21

Shure - A53M Shock Mount Microphone Clip

How about that Shure A53M?

A53M's will not fill the 140's. I own a pair.

On-Stage | MY320 Condenser Shock-Mount Mic Clip | MY320 | B&H

I use these with Beta 87A, Gefell M296/M200, Shure PG81 and Sennheiser MKH8040. The PG81 is a bit of a squeeze, but it works. Not so good isolation as a suspended mount (for that I'd use a pair of these SabraSom: SABRA-SOM SSM1 Universal Shock Mount | Full Compass) but quick and not too noticeable.

Rycote recommend the INV-6 for the KM 100 series - it's smaller than the Inv-7.

I highly recommend these and now use this series for all my mics.

Yes, if the mic is placed inside this clamp, although they are of soft plastic and would accommodate it. But this clamp holds the XLR body and the lower stepped down section of the KM100 body, nicely. The KM100's are so short that its good to keep the main part of the mic body as far away from the clamp as possible.

They do work, maybe a little tight. I like those ATs and use them for all my 21mm microfones. They are cheap, well build and not to bulky.

A Shure A53 will in fact work just fine for Neumann KM series mics. Been using them for years. It is a snug fit and you will not get them in by just pushing the mic through the hole. Rather, twist the mic a bit as you are inserting it and it will slide right in.

The Invision mounts are definitely better than the shure, but also cost quite a bit more.

This will depend on the country you are in.

The Shure is a USA product and the Rycote is a UK product.

The Shure is more expensive in the UK and the Rycote is more expensive in the USA.

In the UK the Rycote is cheaper than the Shure - the Rycote InVision is £30 and the Shure about £40

We used A-53ms at Motown with our KM-86s and they worked very well. While they were tight at first, they loosened up with use. In fact they got too loose after a period of time for SM-53s when used with that mike so the Neumanns were probably a better fit!
