Multipin-connectors I am planning to re-wire my 24 channel mobile recording-rig. I have a system with 24 preamps and a 24 channel recorder (HD24xr). Until now I have had everything in one big rack, but now I would like to use seperate racks for preamps and recorder in order to make the system more portable. And I want panels on the back of the rack where I can connect all the inputs and outputs of the preamps. For that I need multipin-connectors. I also want snakes with multipin-connectors. My question is which type of connector I should choose: Cannon DLL, Syntax or something else. Cannon DLL is now my first choice, but I am a bit concerned about the solidness of the connectors for the harsh live-sound environment. It seems that for live sound other type of connectors are used, like these stage-boxes from Whirlwind: Whirlwind / Stageboxes - Rack Panels Syntax and Mass seems more solid, they are bigger and can probably handle more abuse. DLL and Edac/Elco is more used in studios. But do you still think that Cannond DLL is good enough for mobile recording? Cannon DLL connectors: Redco Audio

IMO, ITT Cannon DL connectors are an excellent solution for rack to rack interconnections. We have been using ELCO/EDAC connectors for decades with great results. They're easy to fix on the spot; we use the crimp style pins. We use W4 MASS and DT12 connectors for all our copper snake runs. Some W4 MASS are used inside the CRM, but mostly ELCO/EDAC are found in our connector panels... I would not recommend DL or ELCO/EDAC connectors for snake runs and such, but they work very well for CRM patching as long as you take good care and handle them carefully.
