Talking Noob at renting studio sessions.. advice?

Hey guys,

I've been making tunes out of my home project studio for quite sometime now. It has been a rather simple setup but in the past year I haven't done anything productive and got rid of the whole studio

So instead of buying a whole bunch of equipment which will just remind me of past frustrations and laziness i thought that renting time might make more sense!

The thing is that i've never done this before and not really sure what to expect.

- Is the studio owner always present? I like to be in total privacy when building tracks.

Any advice? Or things I should expect? Or things I'm expected to do when done?

Thanks for all your help!

You want to rent a studio and tell the owner to vamoose?

Should be feasible if he/she is confident you know your way around, won't need to be told how things are configured, are competent with treating the gear properly, can race from the control room to the booth after you hit record, set up a nice headphone mix you can work with and that will inspire you...

In other words... yeah, maybe, who knows?

It sounds like you need a producer. A producer works with you before and during recording to help with the planning of the project and keeping things on a track to sucess. You can sit in a studio by yourself if you can find a studio that will work like that but if you try to work everything out while the clock is running then you'll end up frustrated and broke too.
Many studio engineers are also producers so they might be able to help you there as well. Ask friends about their experiences and call studios to discuss the project not just rates.
