Is there a way to help limit klackety gutteral piano noise using EQ or something in the mix or is it just one of those shrugs and the word "natural" starts getting mentioned? We made a take so the noise is not atomic but upon review for a few it's woody alright. Is there experience out there to help this? I'm primarily discussing up-right under-the-piano style of micing. If that's stupid, I've got a pen, but it sounds pretty dope without some extras. Very much obliged, go GS go. Peace, -soupking

One possible work-around, could be experimenting with different mic placement, mic angles, more distant from the actual soundboard (if you have the right mics) Even with an EQ, knocking everything out completely below 120-160hz, might help a bit, but doubt EQ will solve the issue completely |

Cool, yeah I angled things down but soundboard is soundboard. However, your question makes me think that maybe distance and gain staging might be the way to roll. Of course, that...becomes a hardware thing. Gain and ceiling seem to be two pretty awesome words if you record long enough I'd imagine. Sound like a good answer to kind of a hard knocks question. ![]() Thanks man! |
