Talking Audix flexmic or Cad 1700vp or ??

Just like everyone that does live remote recording, especially classical, I am constantly getting the questions, "Do you have to put mics there?" or "Can you put those where we don't have to look at them?"

So, I'm looking into the CAD 1700VP, Audix Flex mics and others. The Earthworks are out of my price range for now and I'm not crazy about the HC pattern on the Audix. The CAD looks great on paper, but has anyone used any of these?

I am mostly looking to use them on choirs, most particularly when they are performing with an orchestra or other loud instrumentation.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

If you could run down some of the AKG thin booms (they use 451 caps and mic bodies at each end) they might be a bit better than the Audix and CAD products. A lot of churches used them before they all started flying the little Audio Technica cardioids... and there may be some deals.

Well, it's been over a year since the last post, but i just got one of these to demo. Anybody have any experience with this one yet?

Just for church choirs? Where else?
