Talking World Jr. Hockey Championships

I was mixing the World Jr. Hockey Championships earlier this month for the NHL Network, and thought I would share a few pictures!

Awesome gig! Can you tell us any more info about it? How much fun was wrapping that cable after sitting in the snow? Thanks for the gig report.

It's the strike that's the issue. Cables get VERY stiff when frozen. Try coiling a 125' 12/18 cable after it's been sitting on a hockey rink. Not a good time...

Yeah cable management was pretty crappy there. When we arrived, most of the long runs were already in, they had some locals come in and do a cable day. I guess they don't have a ton of large mobile experience, so there were some corners cut..

Wrapping in the snow was not fun, especially considering the cables had been outside in freezing weather for many days! Most had to be pulled inside the arena to warm up and be coiled properly.

That was the Calrec Alpha. The truck was "Majestic" from Dome Productions, and here's a little blurb about the specs of the console:

Audio Console
Calrec Alpha 100 - 72 Faders - 108 CH
w/ 36 Mono/72 Stereo Channels
80 AES/96 Analog Inputs
48 Multi Tracks/20 Auxes
8 Stereo subgroups
4 5.1/Stereo/Mono Masters
Surround Spill & Delay modules
