Thread Starter | Jim (jnorman) has Fridays free in February and I can make a Friday free to run down to Salem for a get-together to sit and eat and tell lies. Anyone else interested? It could be fun. We had fun when I went down a few months ago and some other folks said they would like to be part of the next one so make yourself known. Cheers ![]()

Thread Starter | Former? I thought you guys were Ducks forever. We can hold a seat for you. And the merry-go-round/carousel is still working in Salem if you want to ride on the time machine. I should record the darned thing when I go down. I just love them.Go Ducks! |

| Friday the 19th works for me as well. I'm located smack dab in the middle of Portland. I am the engineer at Old Library Studio, a non-profit studio/school that I could probably make available if we wanted. Food and libations are close by with the various pubs and restaurants in the Hollywood District. Otherwise I would want to hop a ride to anywhere more than 30-40 minutes away. |

I suggest we do this one in Salem and the next one in PDX. I can give you a ride down. I am out in Astoria and have to pass by PDX regardless of US26 or I5. US26 is good because I can pick you up at a light rail station and save the drive into town. Next time we can meet near your studio. I think it would be great to swing by and see how it works. The Hollywood district has some good eateries, for sure, and so does all of PDX. Thanks for chiming in. | |

Thread Starter | Guys, one member cannot make the 19th. Either we can shift to the 12th and have a full compliment in Salem or do the 19th in PDX short one member. If we do PDX this time we could do Salem the next. Who's up for which date? Either works just fine for me. Lemme know. Thanks so much. Will someone pls bring the new SD CL-9 and give it to me? |

Thread Starter | It looks like the 19th in PDX is the easiest to do this time. Jim cannot make the 19th however. And we should be going to Salem or a halfway spot next time. It is all "too far" for me as I am in Astoria. LOL Jimmy Mak's at around 4:00 sounds like a good idea. Or a McMenamin's would work, too. I have a noon obligation here in Astoria but I can skip it so I can do noon or 4:00. And I have not been to Mak's so that might be nice. How is the food? So, let me know your thoughtsx about time and place in PDX on the 19th: Mak's or McM's and noon or ~4:00. Plastic pocket protectors are optional. ;o) Have a great weekend, folks. |

Thread Starter | Guys, OK, Jimmy Mak's it is, 4:30. That'l give the folks who are winding up a work day time to hustle on over to the joint. I am looking forward to getting together with you and attaching faces to the names. See you all on the 19th! Have a great weekend. Cheers |

| Lives for gear | glad to see youse guys are getting something together (witout me...). jimmy maks should be perfect. however, since i am not going to be there, discussions which include the words mic, preamp, computer, schoeps, nagra, DPA, neumann, reaper, logic, bricasti, converter, interface, reverb, soundstage, imaging, post production, ORTF, omni, master buss, sennheiser, adam monitors, and recording are VERBOTEN!! you may discuss protools, as i do not care about that. you may discuss the overall movement toward the overkill of compression in new music, and how production value on everything sucks now except for sting CDs and even he's a bit wierd with that whatever christmas thing he did (though there were lots of DPA 4011s on stage)... sandy (boojum) may discuss his sound devices recorder - that thing is hot. the primary topics should focus on how cool oregon is, and how lucky we are to live here, and how the local breweries rock, and whoa, check that waitress... and of course, it is always fair game on clients, especially the ones who bring in their own "producer". wild rumors and heresay off-color stories about steve remote are always welcome...

Thread Starter | I think it will be fun despite Jim not being there. He is a fun guy and pretty funny. And he knows about recording and music, so he will be missed. We will, of course, adhere to his list and not discuss anything on it. Sure. ;o) I'll be easy to spot: 6', ~260#, white hair, white goatee and moustache, just turned 70, but look like 90. ;o) CU there! |

| Excellent, I have since had a gig booked on the 19th in the evening so I was going to check on times. 4:30 at Jimmy Maks sounds fine to me. I will be the guy with a hat, glasses, beard and Fair Trade Music button on my collar. |

Thread Starter | It's Always Something! Jimmy Mak's opens at 5:00. And, there is usually a cover for the show, like $10 - $15. Do you still want to make it at Jimmy Maks or go to one of the McMenamins venues or some other joint? I do not know the places in PDX so I need some help here. Any place will work for me. The show for the 19th and the perticulars are posted below. Let me know what other places you like if JM is a "no-go." Cheers OK, here is the show on the 19th: Soul Vaccination Friday, February 19th $10 Cover This fixture in the Northwest music scene has been bringing you tunes from the likes of Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Earth Wind & Fire and Tower of Power for years. And they do it quite well, thank you. The band features the mighty Hammond B-3 organ playing of Louis Pain, as well as the precision guitar playing of Max Rees. Handling the bass is Leah Hinchcliff,, while Edwin Coleman III keeps the time on drums. Jeannine Wiggins and Mark Wyatt share the vocal duties. And Lewis Livermore and Dave Mills carry the backbone sound of the Soul Vax horns on trumpets, with Mary Sue Tobin and Gary Harris on saxophones. Be sure to pick up a copy of their latest CD, recorded live at Jimmy Mak’s! There is no doubt that this show will blow the roof off of the club, so don’t miss out! Check then out at SOUL VACCINATION - The Northwest's Hottest Funk & Soul - Welcome. Burgers and gyros are $10 - $15, meals ~$25. |
