All my choir recordings were done with an MS pair of MKH 30/40.

Peter, I eq'ed the 4061's to have approx the same rolloff as the trapezoids on the 4006 TL's which is the way the CD prefers them. I wonder if I should have used the omni grids for the comparison.

The configuration was a ~40cm AB for both, the 4061's just below the 4006 TL's.

I should run some more tests when they start rehearsals again. Right now they are a few days away from the Mendelssohn Elijah and will then be off for a while.

P.S. If you call around you just may find an Internet dealer willing to sell a matched pair for around $800. I bought two pairs a few years ago from Front End Audio.
