Question anyone using SAW studio as a remote recording platform?

I've been checking out SAW STUDIO on line, seems to get some good feedback from users.
Bottom line is buying another HD rig is not in the cards for a capture rig. Just too much $$$. It looks as though i could configure a killer rig ( 48 ch) with respectable conversion/pres for half what a HD rig would cost.
I wan't to use a DAW as a primary, but it's really not important to me whether or not it's PTools for live work. I can always move files to PT.

So anyone using SAW? comments / observations?

I'd be looking at feeding it with millenia/ api / truesystem pres and 3 AD 16x's, and possibly utilizing a dm2000 for a live mix / broadcast if needed.
I was also thinking of saftying to an MDM x2 alesis/ mackie OR: building another SAW rig with a Digimax/RME litepipe front end.

i think most of my work will be capture and then later odub/fix/mix at the mothership studio.

these rigs will replace the DA78's.....

comments?

I've been using SAWstudio for years and it is a excellent tool. no problem handling 48 tracks for hours. very stable application, especially if you choose the correct hardware to run on it. I highly recommend RME stuff.

Regard the PT stuff; not big deal, there is a program called EDL Convert, http://www.cuibono-soft.com/ which works perfectly for this purpose.

Best Regards

Alex

Thanks alot Doc!

can you detail your rig's specs? better yet, if you were to build NOW what would you look for in a cpu and hardware?

thanks for the reply!

Bump. Yeah. I'm wondering if I should convert to Samplitude or SAW Studio and wonder if more usable to track live on mackie onyx into laptop via firewire.
