Talking Beyer MM1 or CAD e70 - any experience?

i ahve a chance to pick up a pair of Beyer MM1 measurement omnis for a decent price. they appear to be rather typical measurement type mics, small omni capsule with high self noise, pretty flat overall. probably about the same as th audix tr40, or maybe similar sounding to avensons.

i also have a line on a pair of CAD e70's with omni and card capsules. i havent heard any of the CAD mics, but some of the reviews indicate they are pretty good.

has anyone actually used these mics at all? would either of these pairs be any good as a close spaced AB omni pair for small chamber groups?

I have a pair of CAD e70s and have replaced the ceramic capsule-to-FET capacitors with polystyrenes. I just love them. I was looking for a bright and sparkly sound; they may be too bright and sparkly for some.

I know this is an old thread.. but ...

Chris- (or any one I guess) - do you still recommend modding the e70 like you did? what kind of sonic differences did it bring?? I've been pretty happy with mine stock but experimenting sounds like fun (and probably cheaper/ less expensive than upgrading to a whole new mic)

thanks!!
