2 hrs and 30 minutes shouldn't be a problem if you are recording at the lower sample rates (i.e. 44.1 or 48) Do format the drives ahead of time - even a quick format is better than not at all. Using your own HDD may be a good idea as well if this is a possibility.

thanks rob. sample rate will be 48khz as the recording is for a dvd. i have read about the formatting in the "quick start" section of the hd manual. i don`t know how big the internal hd is, how long will the formatting time take? sorry, own hdd is not available. |

There is no "internal" hard drive. The HD24 uses caddies that pop out of the machine. It comes stock with one hard drive in a caddy, but I don't know if there was any standardization in hard drive size. Make sure the rental company knows that they need to provide a drive and maybe spec out the size if possible.

Hi Thomas ![]() Good to "see" you. The standard drive that was shipped with the later HD24's was 80GB. Check with the rental house to see what they have installed. Odeon: A long format might take several hours depending on drive size. A quick format is instantaneous. It would be good to consider how you will transfer the files - rent the fireport if you have the option, though you would also need the FST software. Else, be ready to do a real-time transfer. |

sorry for the misunderstanding. i was talking about the caddie-hds as the "internal" hd. i know that the rental brings the unit loaded with a hd. |
