I do live sound at a club and just got the Drive Rack PA +. I generally have 3 bands a nights and wanted to get the best sound possible. What are some good compressor and limiter settings I should use? Where to set the threshold etc....

As a starting point, unplug your speakers from your amps, hit your amps with enough signal to flash the clip lights, then dial back the threshold so that it brick walls before the clip lights come on. Don't run the rig into the limiters constantly or you could do as much damage as the unchecked peaks would.

There are many amps and speakers in it's database. If yours are there you can use the setup wizard. Otherwise you will need some specs on your stuff to get the optimum settings on it. If you need to set it up without the data them you could set the limiters as described above and the use comp settings based on your music style and taste. More info needed.

There are math formulas that you can use based on the power your speakers can handle, the output of the amps, and the input sensitivity of the amps. To me, that would be the most accurate way to calculate limiter settings. Here is one example: PSW Sound Reinforcement Forums: LAB Lounge => setting dsp output levels using math |
