I'm looking for a good set of "bud" style headphones that come w/ an ear clip. I've tried a few cheap pairs from Best Buy, but those fall off the ear easier than my nice Sony buds do. Any recommendations? Again, just for a click track while drumming. Must have good clip!! thanks, brett |

Hey! I went through this a couple of years ago, trying to find the "answer" for running a click for on stage. So far I've tried pretty much EVERY option (and spent a fortune...!) I've used In-Ears by Sony & Shure (very expensive... and they cut out way too much ambient noise. Fine if you're running your whole mix through them, but no good if you need to hear your wedge clearly) I've tried regular headphones (looks a bit silly on stage.... gets very sweaty..... and everybody knows you're using a click!) I've tried those bud type headphones with the clip that goes over the ear (too much ambient noise, so you need to crank the click up so much the phones distort) So my answer is these..... http://www.sensorcom.com/?oid=22984 I can't get an exact URL, so try the one above, select "Musicians", then scroll down to "Generic Earmolds" They cost only £5 and just slip over regular Walkman style headphones (I bought some £30 Sony's which have a lot of headroom so there's no nasty distortion) Honestly when I think how much I've spent trying to sort this out, and to find that the best solution is made by a company about 5 miles from my house, and it costs almost no money.....!!! I've used one pair on about ten world tours, and they've never popped out, or split, or in fact ever been a problem at all!! I really can't recommend them highly enough!! |

Probably saying something you already know, but--- be careful with your hearing Bro. I've been playing drums for a living for 20 + yrs now and I'm dealing with pretty annoying Tinitus in one ear. No fun, and makes being an effective AE problematic. i still gig alot and HAVE to use protection or I'm screwed for days after. For me,that is er25, Sesaphonics ( when I have to monitor ) or just foamy shooters plugs in a pinch. a great mid way solution is also the Future Sonics EM3's. cheap, sound better than the shures by a country mile, but dont cost 800 bucks. (99.00 on sale) please: if your monitoring a clik in earbuds that are not sealing, AND monitoring a loud wedge, or for that matter playing drums without ear protection- Your doing damage. I'm not sure where your at in your career but take it from a 43 yr old that loves to listen to music- you don't want to F*** with this. the Future sonics lock enough ambient noize ( stage and kit ) to offer a decent bit of protection ( not enough for me now with the damage done) and enable you to monitor clik much lower. I do this weekly on a couple steady gigs with clik. I don't want to sound preachy, but damn.... hearing loss sucks. I have no idea how it's going to be when i'm 60. I hopw I can still hear. craig

I like the Shure E3's, they have great isolation, dont' fall out of my ears like other in-ear phones normally do, and they have a pretty good frequency response. Dante |
