Question Thoughts on repairs for an HD24

I have the std HD24 bought used and have been putting up with several flaky TRS input jacks (signal is lost with just the weight of the cable dangling). I'm not using it for pay gigs' just gathering our own live stuff BTW and at this point just learned to avoid those tracks.
It's looks to me that replacing the f/m TRS' would be a PITA, but figured it would be worth asking if it's feasible. Did some hunting and saw Alesis had EC2's for about $400. Looks like I may have missed a damned good opportune..

I'd suggest going to an Alesis authorized repair shop. I had an HD24 XR with some strange issues. Turned out to be cracks in the power supply circuit board. The tech knew the machine well (the advantage of the authorized part) and was able to put in point to point wiring to bypass the weak spots. It's been rock solid ever since.

I'm sure any decent tech could get around the inside of the machine easily and fairly cheaply. No real rocket science going on in there.

Not sure of your location but there should be an 'Alesis authorized' list on their website somewhere. Or send an email / call.

What did you end up doing?

The EC2 upgrade is an excellent way to resolve your TRS issues.
I would seriously consider doing the upgrade, especially at that killer price point.

Alesis advised me to send it to VST services for repair. Tech also said that 'out of stock price (that was $500 BTW not 400, my mistake) was likely a refurbish unit.
Haven't got to VST yet, will consider that vs $500 - $800 for EC2, back to you then..
I am encouraged to read guys are getting SATA drives to work in them -that dodges the EIDE drive bullet I was concerned about.
