Talking First Huge Remotester Bash in Salem, OR!!

Today, we held our first Remotester conference here in Salem, Oregon, hosted by jnorman34 at the Busick Court Cafe. We had a large turnout (there were two of us!), and had a lot of fun. Boojum (For that snark was a boojum, you see) came down from Astoria for the festivities.

The Booj and I swapped some CDs, and he pulled out his little tinkertoy SD 788 for show-and-tell (that's one hoppin little gizmo, fer sure, huh?). we exchanged secret info on our respective signal chains (not ALL of our secrets, of course...), bragged about our past experienes with various persons of the female persuasion, bashed and glorified a variety of differnt pieces of gear and brands, and generally gossiped about a lot of you (yes, brianhanke, your name came up). we expounded on who was the biggest slut, who obviously knew nothing about recording, and who couldnt spell cardioid correctly if their life depended on it, etc.. there was some grudging admission that a couple of you have actually done some moderately acceptable work, and that were at least a few of you who may not be gay...

for the record, we did establish that Booj's tag line, "Nov Schmoz Kapop" does indeed mean "Not an extremely large nose". all in all, a very fun time, and we wished you could have all been there. thanks for a great forum!!

Send a message via AIM to Corran
I continue to hate living in the badlands of GA (otherwise known as the Deep South).

Thanks.

Remotesters and other audio-techs are all around us. You just have to know where to look.

Kind of like miracles.

I should write movies.

Man I would have loved to join you guys.
I live in Portland and run a humble 8 channel solar powered mobile rig in addition to teaching at Old Library Studio and FOH for a couple bands in town.

Cheers,
Graham

Graham, why not stay in touch and perhaps we can get an area thing going. Those guys in NY aren't entitled to it all, even if they do have the egg creams!

It was a good get-together. I learned some recording stuff and had some other stuff confirmed: size of mic locker does not equate to quality of recording.

It is also good to be able to put a face to the name. And to learn that there are others who yearn for boudain and muffaletta! With "wop salad"!

Okay; an Army of two -- no problem because Remotesters rule in any capacity!

Maybe the next Remotester's gathering can be in Las Vegas or somewhere central so we all can make it.

How about somewhere even more central, like the Hudson Valley?

I have actually had the honor of meeting the ubiquitous jnorman in person..

There does seem to be enough interest to warrant a get-together in the not-too-distant future. One of the great things about this board and this forum especially is its collegiality. Self restraint and Steve Remote's bullwhip keep the sniping and carping in check. I think, too, that the folks who hang around here are more emotionally mature than some other boards.

So why not keep it in mind to gather in a larger group for some dining and chat. We can compare notes on whatever, and lern tew spel kurdud, er kardud, er kordid, oh, yew noe wut I mene.
