Talking Which DAW to pair up with Metric Halo?

If you would record with a metric halo interface, what daw software would you choose? (logic?,???)
Mainly jazz, and classical, but need editing and mixing features as well.

Reaper and/or cubase/Nuendo are other options that i would prefer. Especially for audio purposes.

+1 for Reaper if you want to have lots of tracks and automation.

Sonic Studio Soundblade also works perfectly and sounds great too.

I just jumped into Reaper with my 2 x 2882s.

Works great! Much faster (everything) than Logic 8 -- fewer anomalies too.

Metric Halo has a recording application, very simple and very solid. Then you can mix in whatever daw you think is better.
If you are not making lots of money, Reaper can be a nice starting point. If you are also a composer, Logic seems hard to beat. If you need to make 100 edits in one minute of music there are Pro editing apps. Some of them are Windows only, but remember that you can also run Windows on your Mac (if it is Intel based!).

Reaper is great but is relatively poor to tweak crossfades which is very important in classical editing.

I know i work with volume envelopes as workaround but Nuendo is much better with that. But Reaper is so cheap!

If you're using or plan to use multiple MH boxes then I think DP is the best pairing. Seriously. Because DP is the only DAW that addresses the multiple interfaces within their MAS engine. Otherwise you're forced to use aggregate devices, which add latency and headaches.

I use three MH boxes all the time with no problem in DP. Whenever I try to use aggregate devices there seems to be some issue.

But latency (when using more devices) only occur with daws?
I mean if I use metric halo's record panel, than everything is fine, but if I use some dedicated daw (like logic), than latency happens. Am I right in this?
Thanks, Tamas Dragon

I prefer Samplitude / Sequoia and have just ordered my Sequoia 11 upgrade.

True. But when you use aggregate devices you've upped the ante. Also more errors may be prone to occur, at least in my experience. Sluggishness, etc.. YMMV.

Several years ago, I was in a situation where I had to pair two MIOs with DP, and was really impressed with how DP addressed both hardware units w/o resorting to aggregate devices.
