Thank you again and again and again.

The TEC Award we received was for last year's festival which aired on NPR and PBS.

We also recorded, mixed and broadcasted (partly) this year's event which your link directs us to...

We handled the main stage performances.
The other stages were captured by WBGO and WGBH with their own portable rigs which were set-up next to each stage individually.

We also were part of the 2008 and 2009 Newport Folk Festivals.
The 2009 Folk Fest was amazing if I do say so myself.
Again we handled the main stage artists.

You can also find those performances on NPR by clicking on the music link and search for the Newport Folk performances.

Everything was mixed on the fly for both 2009 events; Combat audio with no sound checks or remixes.

There will be some remixing for some upcoming JazzSet episodes that Duke Markos will remix. I believe that they will be airing in November 2009.
Keep an ear out for them. I guarantee they will sound awesome with Duke behind the desk.

Awesome - thank you to the tenth power folks!

Hey, Peter I definitely have the passionate for sure, I can be a great guy if I try hard enough, but the knowledge I have is more street smarts than anything else.

It's like what I say to all my new associates, technicians, assistants, interns and such:
You can make a thousand mistakes, just don't make the same mistake twice.
If you follow that simple rule during your journey you will earn the title of expert by default.

Congrats! The humbleness you display about such an award is quite refreshing.

Congratulations to you and the entire crew on the TEC Award win! Rob Friedrich and I were in the back of the room cheering for you. It was really great to see you win against such seemingly insurmountable competition. It shows that good taste and quality CAN actually win out sometimes!!!

We're all proud of you and the company!

congrats for a well deserved award for you and your killer crew.

when it comes to live music mixing without a safety net there is no better cat than steve remote. give him a chance to balance a remix and its like you are sitting front row center.

in my opinion he is the best live recording/broadcast music mixer around. why he hasnt won dozens of tec awards in the past is beyond my understand. its about time he nailed this one. the cat is out of the bag and everyone knows where you are coming from. i bet this is the first of many more to come.

hey remoteness should get an award for running the best audio forum on the net. he always seems to have your back around here.

i hope you dont mind all the hoopla b ecause you deserve it.

Thanks for the credit Steve - I was only really there on setup day.

I think my biggest contribution was running a snake over the wall of the fort out to the press tent in the middle of the parade grounds

It was really cool to be there to see you get the award - and you almost didn't go!

We have an Omar Sosa recordiing (Across the Divide) that is up for best Latin Instrumental nomination.
Hey - was that the Blue Note recording from last year?

I was on the crew for that one too!

One for all; all for one.
You were just as important to the project as the folks in the truck.
As they say, one hand washes the other.

..And, yes it was the BN and you were on that date.

For those that were not at the awards presentation.

I received this link a few days ago and wanted to share it with my fellow Remotesters.

Congratulations Steve! Yet another well-deserved feather in your hat. Humble man, humble speech, top professional. A big lesson here for many, and I mean many, of the young people on this site who want to enter the field of professional recording.

Steve,

Congratulations! It's great when everything turns out right.

But why are remote-sters always so wardrobe challenged?

(Noting that you were out of uniform and not wearing a black t-shirt!)

Steve, congratulations again. We all have so much in our lives which is better because of you and your forum. Peer recognition is a wonderful thing because no other group can really understands what it is that you have done. I am proud of you and very pleased you have the award. And thanks so much for the humble acceptance speech! No, "And I'd like to thanks my great aunt, etc., etc., etc., . . . " It seems you shine in modesty as well and remote skills.

Cheers!
