I need suggestions on a live recording setup. I'll be recording electric and acoustic rock in small venues (Coffee shops, bars, small clubs). Maybe outdoor amphitheater. I have a pair of AT4051a and a Zoom H4n that I'll be using for on-the-go recordings. Regarding mic setup techniques for this type of situation, what's worked well for you? Any thoughts/experiences are appreciated. I would prefer to keep the mic setup on one mic stand for portability and security. Thanks! |

that should be a great little setup. ORTF, NOS and DIN all work well for what you are doing, depending on your location with regard to the source. for larger arena work, you may wish to pick up a pair of the hypercard capsules for your AT's. go visit taperssection.com - lots of folks there doing exactly what you are.
