Hi Chalie
Please note that the UPA is much more powerfull speaker and wider in terms of horizontal coverage than the UPJ- These are not the same speaker.

I wouldnt advice you to use the UPJ as main PA speaker for large room.

thanks for the advice. however, i've used UPAs quite a bit and for a sub-180 seat theatre, the UPAs would be overkill while the UPJ should be a perfect fit.

i'm looking for input on where i can rent speakers...
cheers,

Audio Inc. in Jersey has the KV2audio KX12 and 10's. In the city there's S.I.R. and Dreamhire.

you know, everyone i had talked to (prior to posting) suggested masque. i can't seem to get a return call or email from them, however. is there a direct number for rentals? do they rent gear?

will check out promix if SIR doesn't work out.

Yeah, check listings in North Jersey. That's where their main rental facility is located. Also, I've had good luck with Carol.

PRG Audio
Sound Associates
Masque Sound & Recording
One Dream Sound
Scharff-Weisberg

There are other A/V houses but they are VERY expensive.

All deliver, and take CC's.

All of them carry UPA-1p's & UPJ-1p's. They use the identical horn, but you can rotate it in the UPJ. The UPA has a 12" LF driver while the UPJ is a 10", and has about 6dB less maximum output level.

Good luck!
