Talking Motu MTP AV and Pro Tools users?

Anybody using the MTP AV with pro tools to sync to video? I am a bit lost with getting pro tools to see MTC. From what I understand, the video input can accept time code (positional reference) from a video deck and convert it to MTC for pro tools to follow. I was able to sync to MTC from another pro tools rig video midi input 1, but the video sync input is a no go.

I have successfully locked to blackburst via apogee big ben and have that distributing wordclock to my digital devices. I just need to get this positional reference figured out.

you need to convert the same signal: analog smpte --to--> MTC & Wordclock.

set audio interface to slave to wordclock,
and the software to slave to MTC.
EASY-123.

most smpte converters, need manual frame settings.

the MTP AV is automatic, but the MTP AV wordclock sounds ugly and locks slow.
the Alesis Ai-2 needs manual frame setting, but sounds much better, and locks much faster.

posibly the Lucid SSG192 also is better.

if frame not set correctly it will drift, the more time, more drift.

i am getting black into my big ben, i only need to convert smpte to MTC. it seems like it should be that easy, but the MTP AV is just not seeing any time code from the VTR. maybe it isnt my problem.
