Dropouts of the FOH console during gig!

Hell on earth in Switzerland! Attention please:
Yesterday was the worst day of my life. A Soundtracs MXD 48 channel live console died 5 times for few seconds during a gig with probably 600 people! After this opener band, I made a new setup with a spare console, a A&H GL 2400!
Oh my god, that was so crazy! My lovely GL console worked well and I had good FOH sound too! I copied the settings from the MXD console, but I had to do the mix all new. This experience was so horrible!
The Soundtracs MXD was in good shape I thought, it was the first time I worked with it BUT FOR SURE THE LAST TIME TOO!!
I guess I´ve learned something new about Soundtracs consoles!

other horrible stories?

Did ya hear the one about the Digi-Design "Venue" console dying at the beginning of a Nine Inch Nails show in Chicago? It's a pretty interesting story... there is an excellent article about it in the July issue of "Live Sound International"

Did Trent dump water on it?

hedgehog, sucks about your soundtraks. I've never used their live boards, but the studio one I've used works pretty well aside from the scratchy switches...

I also do live sound every so often and just reading your story reminds me of times when things just did not work out for me. One time I was mixing live for a band in a small place and they rented a decent 32ch. console for me to mix on ( not to mention any names) I was so excited about how good it was going to sound. So I plug it in and it does not even work. They did not have time to return it because the show started in about an hour. I ended up using a 12 or 16 channel mackie VlZ that they had and managed to get the job done. The rental company did not charge them for the console when they returned it, but just the feeling I was getting when the show should have started 15 minutes ago and we were still setting up . Oh ya it was suppose to be an outside concert and then it rained after we had the equipment all set outside, so we had to move to the small building. Sorry I forgot to mention that small minor detail.
Here is another story and the same rental company. A friend of mine calls me and ask if he could store some lights in my garage that were going to be used in a mid size church for a band. To my amazement these things were huge, think big concert size. He promised to buy me diner if i helped set up. So we begin setting up the many pieces and run into a problem were one of the bars did not fit.The rental company gave him the wrong bar, but it took us hours of labour before we figured that out. Then to top it off he forgot his wallet and I ended up buying hime diner. Hey what are friends for?

I dont know but stuff just keeps happening to me, for example two weeks ago the console decided to just not work out of the master and only send the left side out.... no clue as to why tho. oh it didnt help that some drunk bastard decided to turn off some of the main amps on the left side either.......
the bass amp just stopped working thank god i had him DI´d
the end result?
one ass sounding gig.

I guess it happens
just got to move on to the next

The right side died? Sounds like a Mackie ribbon cable failure.
