Wink The Feedback Sidebar...

...with all this good talk about how to remove feedback from a live capture that I read in this thread, How to remove feedback from a live recording, I wanted to throw in this opposite perspective.

When stage monitors, live sound and show recording go really well, I sometimes joke with the FOH or MON engineer that I'm going to need to overdub the feedback and noise because it was too clean and isolated.

It doesn't happen much, but I've felt like I needed to add a little feedback, noise and/or leakage because the recording sounded too much like a studio recording. Strange stuff, but I'm serious; I know, I know, it's a crazy mindset.

Keep in mind that, this concept is more for live rock, blues, jazz, etc performances; I don't think this way for classical performances or when complete isolation and clarity is paramount, so I'm not trying to start a flame war.

Now, back to the show.

BLASPHEMY!!!

Obviously you're not the one(s) on stage performing!

If you need FB that bad, grab a snippet from a SFX library or prev. gig and insert to taste!

I think it's cool to want what we don't have, but - that is sick!
