Question drum mics used for "Percussion Gun" by white rabbits?

Just came across their vid, and I love the way the drums sound on it, does anyone know what mics were used for this recording?

YouTube - White Rabbits "Percussion Gun" Official Video

Thanks a bunch!

It's impossible to know for sure (unless you were there at the session! ), but I would say you could get that sort of Tom sound using reasonable condensors, Audix D2/4 or something like a Beta 98.

You can do some digging to find out who recorded it, and at what studio and ask...that's how many people learn! It looks kind of like a take off the Blue Man Group with large drums stuffed inside a tube, and miked from the bottom- but it doesn't SOUND the same.

Have you seen these:

Cheers,

Yeah, the guitar tone is good, the backing vox & harmonies are nice (the washy verb I can do without, but I see what it's going for.)

For the drum mics, they are using standard dynamics (like 57) on Letterman but touring wth Shure Beta 98 capsules. In the studio it sounds to me like a combination of a Beta 98 on top and a 421 or RE-20 on the bottom of the drum, phase-aligned and then blended.

Interesting thread for me.
