Unhappy Erich Kunzel passes away

Cincinnati Pops conductor Erich Kunzel passed away today after a brief but devastating battle with pancreatic, colon and liver cancer.

He founded and conducted the Pops for over 30 years, and built an incredible catalog of recordings on Telarc, including the famous 1978 early digital recording of the Tchaik 1812 containing the "cannon shot heard round the world".

RIP, Maestro.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. Thanks for the info. I guess Pavo will take the pops for the season?

Yes, I just read the NYT obit. And just listened to his Rhapsody in Blue/American in Paris this afternoon. He will be missed.
