Talking Laptop recording

Are there laptops, PC, that have a fast enough DVD Drive in there that I can record a CD to give to a client that won't have issues? I want to go from a SPDIF out of a DAT recorder into Wavelab. What advice regarding a good laptop, good drive, modification to windows, a good reliable audio card, and is there a battery now that can give hours of record time - and do I need two hard drives - one internal or two internal or other???? New to computer recording.

You can record to the laptop internal HD and then burn a DVD fast, yes!

There are several cheap options for an interface with SPDIF, or just use the AD's (and possibly mic preamps) of the interface.

For $200-300 you'll get a good interface with USB or firewire connection to the laptop.

And, yes, you should be able to find a laptop with battery capacity for a couple of hours of recording.
