Talking French music on french organ

These are some samples of a recent concert on a typical 17th century organ in a little village in SW of France. The church is an old big Gothic cathedral. The organ is tuned with a mesotonic temperament (and had some bad tuned pipes !).

You will recognize some music made for these organs from Dandrieu.

It was recorded with a pair of sdc.

Do you like it ?

Not all but yes : a lot . French organ restoration rules are often to find again the original sound of these old organs. This could provide very interesting surprises.

In the case of this organ there were big changes in the temperature just before the concert and so some problems of tuning.
If I posted these samples it was because depending of the mics and recording setup these kind of organ could give a very harsh sound on reed pipes and mixtures and I was very pleased with these.

Allons messieurs, nous sommes sur un forum en anglais

I used my usual pair of MC930 at 6.5 m high. These were plugged in a Mackie interface and recorded 44.1k/24b.

Hey Plush, yes these are typical French organ sound but Gallique . My culture don't go so far , just until gregorian chant and yes there are some similarities with the instruments of that time.
