Question mixing engineers for acoustic jazz in NYC

I have some great tracks "in the can" and I am looking for a reputable person/place to mix in NYC. The project is jazz quartet(sax piano bass drums). Seeing as James Farber,Joe Ferla would be out of the budget, any others to recommend?

thanks for any help...

Alan

I might consider doing it depending on how it was recorded. Send me an email or PM. I usually only mix and/or record for friends of mine, but I have some time open in September. I can do it at home "In the box" or go somewhere with "toys", it all depends on budget.

Aside from me, I would recommend Andrew Williams (in Binghampton NY) & Roger Rhodes in NYC. Most other so-called "jazz engineers" tend to mix things like 1970s-era recordings. Very dry with panned out piano and drums and bass DI. If you want that sound, I'm not your man. If you like the classic jazz sound with point-source imaging from the "audience perspective", gimme a shout.

I have a contemporary jazz record on the charts right now, called Groove With Me, but I've done a fair amount a straight ahead and brazilian jazz also. I have a nice automated console, nice outboard, and a nice rate

I only wish we had has many studios and guys out here. There are a few good ones but mostly pop/rock.

I can't speak from personal experience but I like all the records I hear from Systems Two in Brooklyn, Mike Marciano I believe. I'd love to do a record there.

I just recorded a CD at Systems Two last week. Great room but not a lot of "slutty gear". Great piano as well.

Also, Walter Sear doesn't engineer dates at Sear sound, he just drops in on your session to smoke and tell jokes.

this forum's moderator is a serious music mixer with quite a few jazz records under his belt. why not pm remoteness while you're at it?

he recorded and mixed that 2008 jvc jazz at newport video that is up for a 2009 tec award to name one project. conrad herwig's another kind of blue also comes to mind as an excellent recording and mixed record.
