Question Langevin DVC as insert - FOH - Hum - feedback

Hi, I was wondering if it's a good idea to use the Langevin DVC as insert during a foh session, I used it a couple times and on vocals I seem to get feedback when the singer get's to close to the monitors,
on guitar mic's I seem to get lots of hum when the limiter is on. So I'm tryin to figure what a good start setting is for them, It's a foolproof unit though cousin me some issues. thanks

EQ your monitors properly and you won't get feedback. your issues there are not because of the DVC.

As for the hum on your guitar- is the amp buzzing? The comps can easily raise the levels and make hums and buzzes more audible. Could also be an insert issue on the console- depends on how you insert on your board. 1/4" only- you could have a balancing issue with the console. "real" xlr inserts- could be a grounding issue. Get an IL19 on the output and see if it improves.

In the two occasions I used it on vocal I had no control over the monitors, that was on stage, I was doing front mix on a Soundcraft MH4.
It's possible that the guitar amp (Marshall) had some hum, could be and the limiter brought it out even more, console was Soundcraft MB8. I was indeed using 1/4" cables for insert and only had about 5 minutes to plug in my stuff and soundcheck
(or atleast getting my levels right) first song was a mess... Ill check it out again this weekend and try the DVC on the guitars again to keep them a bit under control, not sure what console Ill have then though but mostly it's soundcraft MH4 or MH3
For vocals I switched to a distressor last time and one for bass, and think I will keep it this way from know one.

Cheers
