Hello! I though remote possibilities is the best place to start looking as it is clearly a live (possibly a large location) mixing desk ;-) ... Ok, it seems to be a 24/8/2 and looking at the channel strips and especially the fader boxes it probably is a custom made German desk from the early 80's?? Maybe ABE? Can anyone shed some light on it? Never seen one like this before! Only asking because I just bought it here in the UK and will need a psu for it! But a bit of background on such an individual item would be great anyway! Please check out the photos and show me that you do your slutty homework!

hi robert, it could be an old glockenklang desk. glockenklang is still around manufacturing bass amps, gates and and some other studio/live sound gear. a few yers ago i did f.o.h. in a club in bochum, germany and it looks quite similar to the desk they had there. the local guy said that glockenklang built just a few of those desks in the 80ies and then stopped making them. best holger |

Hello Holger! Yes, that is very possible! There was a company from Berlin called Scheck Audio which build similar looking stuff like that too in the early '80s. Btw. I still have a 4x Glockenklang noise gate in my rack, which I brought over from Germany Anyway, I will contact Glockenklang in Germany and ask! Thank you for your input! Viele Gruesse aus London!! |

Hello! I just had a reply from Glockenklang (hi-end German equipment manufacturer) and it is as follows: Hi, das Pult kenne ich leider nicht und es ist definitiv kein Glockenklang Pult. Ich weiß leider auch nicht, was es sein könnte. MfG Udo Klempt-Gießing GLOCKENKLANG He says that it's definitely not a Glockenklang mixing desk and he doesn't know what it could be either Anyone else here with a guess? |

Have you tried opening it up and seeing if there are any markings inside? -Dan. |

That looks very German DIY or small manufacturer to me. The combination of knobs, buttons and switches that were extensively used by small German companies back in the 80s are typical. Sifam, Alps, Siemens and Adam Hall parts are typical for that period. If the letters TTR appear on the boards, then you are in luck and I can get all the info for you. But building a PSU for that would be easy.

To me it looks like an old Midas series 01. I might still have a fader module from it. I will check in the studio. The knobs look a lot like an old Midas. Visit the slide show over here to see similar buttons...

). The whole look of it / look of the surface and knobs....I had a look at a couple of old Midas desk too, on the first glance there are some similarities, but..... am not convinced ![]() When I have the board brought over from Wales I have to take out a couple of channel strips and have a look. I auctioned already a Sountracs PC Midi PSU yesterday, which hopefully converts easily (?) to fit the console. Peace | |

PSU - by the time you have mucked about with this thing and have tried to adapt a PSU from another desk, it is probably easier to just knock together a PSU for this thing. I am guessing it will need +/- 18V or there abouts, plus a 48V phantom rail. Most German DIY desks were copies of the old Soundcraft Series II (big black) series and this looks mighty like that sort of thing. TBH, it looks like something that I (or one of my colleagues) might have built back in the late 70s when I was working as a service guy in Germany. It would be funny if it is one of the one-offs that I built back then! The boards may state which voltage they would like to receive and should have the maker's logo or at least a name on the board. |
