Talking Paul McCartney 2009 Tour

I just saw the show last night at Fed Ex Field - Washington D.C.

Due to a start delay, I had a chance to go up front and scope out the gear for this tour.

This rig looked almost identical to the tour rig for the 2003 Live at Red Square DVD
with the exception of Brian Ray switching to a pair of Ashdown bass kits.

Rusty's /13's are naked plywood stained yellowish orange.
Brian's were Blonde with the black V.

Not sure but Paul was playing through a pair of Vox AC 100s while playing
guitar.

A pair of Mesa 400+driving a pair of Mesa/ EV Road Ready 18" cabs
and a Mesa Road Ready 2X10 +15 cab.

Rusty played his natural 335 most of the show and brought out his
red '65 335 for the encores.

Paul had one of his tour Hofners, his upside down Epiphone acoustic
and that dream lefty LP burst.

Brian played his Guild Bass, SG, Gretch, and LP Burst

Paul played "Something" starting out with the Ukulele given to him by George
in a tribute to George.

His tribute to John " Here Today" was gut wrenching and powerful.

I can't tell you what they were using for the live sound, massive complex, expensive
Cornish boxen in all the custom racks.
I can't remember the manufacturer's name for the two main boards.

I did see one side rack sporting 4 Avalon preamps to left of Rusty and the keyboard
rig. Mic sends, I guess.

From what I could see, they used floor monitors rather than in-ears.

The crystal clear view monitors to each side of the stage really helped
everyone experience the band close up.

So to the unsung tech heros, Salute for a job well done.

Temp in high 80's with all those people and 100% humidity.

The band gave 200%

The detail of what it takes to pull off that music, the gear, the instruments, the techno wizardry along with their performance and combined effort on vocals.

And they made it look so easy.

Yeah, at first I was so blown away I started questioning the whole lip syncing thing...I ruled that out fairly fast though. Sir Paul is simply the best. The harmonies sounded great too, as did everything that came from anyone on stage.

The show at Fed Ex Field started 1 hour 40 minutes late due to traffic holding up
arrival at the stadium.

They played 2 hours 45 minutes with 2 very brief breaks, just enough to dry off
and maybe change shirts.
