The 2408 doesn't work over Firewire, I'm afraid

For a while I used 2408mkII as an adat device with my Metric Halo units. No problems. But the 2408 uses PCI otherwise. It can be in standalone mode as an adat device. You could use 828.

nothing wrong with logic, but there are some cheap programs that work better for remote.. Reaper for mac comes to mind, or boom recorder...

You'll have to work at 44.1 or 48K, but you should be fine. The MOTU 8pre has decent preamps, Phantom power AND 20dB pads on every channel, a good midi interface (for software instruments and such) ONLY 2 outs per unit though & not a lot of headroom though....Not a bad little mixer....works well with others and works good in stand alone.
