Just wanted to let ya'll know that I'm maintaining a blog following the progress of a remote recording project. I'm engineering a 3-CD set of the Wren Organ in Williamsburg, VA. Prep work began back in the spring and tracking began last week. We will continue through July and August, with a few pieces waiting till November. Recording the Wren Organ · Preserving the Wren Chapel Organ in Williamsburg, VA Many of the posts deal with the history, community, and performers involved, but I will also be posting info specifically regarding the technical and practical aspects of the audio production (I'll probably bump this thread when I do). I hope this will be interesting to some of you out there. Thank you to those who have already contributed to the project! |

Looks like a really cool gig. What will they do with the recordings? Good luck!

Thanks! Aside from the simple goal of documenting the unique organ and space for it's own sake, we hope to bring the sound of the organ and the Chapel to those who haven't had a chance to hear it or aren't aware that it's there. Local distribution is already set up and other options are being explored as well. |

Two new techie posts. Probably plenty you already know, but hopefully you (or someone else) still might find it interesting: Recording the Wren Organ · TechDeck: The Preamps Recording the Wren Organ · What is the “noise floor”? |

Very nice, Corran! I'm looking forward to hear the results as I'm a bit of an organ recording slut myself so it'll be very interesting to read about your progress. |

| Yes, but.. Very nice, Corran! I'm also looking forward to hearing the results even though I'm not an organ recording one bit. Keep up the good work Corran and especially Norsehorse for starting that cool website.

Hold up, what'd I do now? This is Christian's project, not mine, and I am not helping him or anything, though I wouldn't mind.
