Help me! Recently I made a recording with a chamber orchestra...and when I started to mix it, I realized, that the conductor was crooning all the time...so if the orchestra plays piano, you could hear him from every mic...even from the spots. Bizarre, because there (on location) I did not hear that. Is there a way to supress his voice? Thanks! |

There are recordings of the Cleveland Orchestra with George Szell conducting where you can hear him singing. It's a tradition!

The only way I can think of to suppress the voice is to use cheesie mics. Not a good option. ;o) Some conductors do it. Errol Garner, the jazz pianist, was famous for moaning and grunting.

Let's not forget Glen Gould! I think you should consider those noises as being part of the performance. Some musicians breath deep and hard some don't, others tap feet some don't, etcetera, etcetera. That's life and music is part of life. Music is made by people and people are noisy. |

Hmmm...okay. I've never heard such recording before, but it seems I have no choice. There will be a non-payd extra on the CD . Anyway, thanks for the replies.

The real question is: is there a way to enhance his voice? |

Hey, it's part of the capture. Does he sound good? Is he in key? You may have something special here... Or, maybe not.
