I'm currently looking at starting a small location and live recording company. I've worked for a couple years now in various commercial recording studios in the miami area and have a good amount of experience with both pro tools and high end analogue gear.(neve/ssl consoles, analogue comps/eqs, etc.) I love the analogue gear when paired with protools because it really warms up the sound brings in some of the color I love from older recordings done on completely analogue rigs. In trying to put a mobile rig together I am of course limited by budget. I want to use protools hd for all my recording because quite frankly, I never used a better DAW. However I want to get a 16 channel mixer that can handle a modest live sound rig(two mains, a crossover and a sub), and be used as a stable recording interface/controller in combination with protools. I would normally choose an analogue console like an allen & heath or a mackie onyx, but I want to save my self from dropping a fortune on outboard rack comps and fx units. Also the having the ability to plug the adat outs of a digital console right into the adat ins of a 192 I/O would be amazing(16 channels of I/O and only two cables!). Right now I'm looking at the Yamaha O1V96VCM and the Presonus Studiolive. If anyone has any experience with either of these consoles, and could comment on them, specifically the pre amps and the digital conversion quality, I would greatly appreciate it. Nick |

The studiolive doesn't have ADAT I/O, so if you want to use that, look elsewhere :p It does have analogue direct outputs on D-Sub, though. http://www.audiosos.cn/attachments/2...257511tGkr.jpg |
