Question Marketing/Advertising Your Services?

I would like to extend my recording services somewhat, and see if I can get some more jobs recording local chamber music performances, small acoustic groups, auditions, etc, both remote and in the studio. I am currently doing no advertising at all.

What are some of the more effective ways of getting your name out there to prospective clients? thanks.

I'm not sure there is a super effective way to advertise our services. Word of mouth seems to be the best. I advertised in Yellow Book and haven't had a single call in a year's time. On the other hand, my crappy (and almost free) web site has landed me several gigs.

advertising

Yellow Pages has never done much for me. The gigs I got barely covered the cost of the ads so I don't go there anymore.

A website can provide a good place for you to explain things. I hang up ads in music stores to point people to my web site. I try to keep cards on the message board at Guitar Center and this gets me a few gigs from local groups.

I mail custom post cards to local schools, churches, bars and TV stations. This is very focused and cost effective for me.

Also, always do a good job when you get a job, don't over promise but definitely over-deliver, this is the best advertising I've found!
